DermikMX: Korean Beauty Has a New Story to Tell in Mexico

From scientific research to traditional herbal practices, DermikMX brings together five South Korean skincare brands exploring different approaches to skin health and beauty.

Some formulas begin their journey in a laboratory, while others draw on ingredients that have been part of beauty rituals for generations. Some explore cellular technologies; others focus on needs as specific as lip care. Behind each lies a different perspective on the skin, how it changes, and what it truly needs.

These different approaches come together through DermikMX, a multibrand platform specializing in South Korean cosmetics that is introducing five brands to the Mexican market: AMPLE, LAVIDA, ZAIN, COREANA VEGAN, and XOUL. Bringing together science, tradition, and distinct skincare philosophies, the platform offers a broader perspective on an industry whose capacity for innovation extends well beyond trends.

Four of these brands share a common foundation: Coreana Cosmetics, a South Korean company with more than three decades of experience in research and development. Through its Songpa R&D Center, the company has built a research portfolio that, according to the brand, includes more than 400 skincare-related patents, along with recognition from the Korea Technology Awards and the Dongam Cosmetics Scientist Awards. XOUL, developed by Cross J Co., Ltd., a company founded in Seoul in 2017, brings an independent perspective to the selection.

Yet the numbers tell only part of the story. What makes this portfolio particularly interesting is how that knowledge translates into actual formulations, from peptide-based serums and retinol treatments to creams inspired by traditional Korean herbal practices. Each product represents a different approach to skincare.

The Science Behind the Formula

For LAVIDA, research is the starting point. Its Smart Skin Science philosophy incorporates Powercell™, a technology developed around components associated with cellular signaling, the mechanisms through which cells receive and interpret information to regulate their functions.

This scientific approach extends to products such as Moisture Solution Gel Cream, a lightweight moisturizer; Retinol Intense 9900, featuring one of the most extensively studied ingredients for gradually improving the appearance of fine lines and skin texture; and Sun Solution, the brand’s sun protection range.

Together, these products address three fundamental skincare needs: hydration, treatment, and prevention. While retinol plays an established role in formulations targeting visible signs of aging, daily sun protection remains one of the most scientifically supported measures for preventing UV-related skin damage.

When Science Gets Specific

At AMPLE, serums take center stage. The brand develops formulations featuring peptides, centella asiatica, hyaluronic acid, and vitamin C, ingredients selected to address different skin concerns. Among its products are Peptide Shot Ampoule 2X and Peptide Shot Eye Cream, extending the use of peptides from facial treatments to targeted care for the delicate eye area.

Centella asiatica is commonly found in soothing formulations, while hyaluronic acid is valued for its ability to retain moisture. Vitamin C is widely recognized for its antioxidant applications and its role in improving the appearance of skin radiance. Peptides, meanwhile, represent a diverse family of compounds whose performance depends on their structure and formulation.

Beyond incorporating recognizable ingredients, AMPLE’s approach lies in developing targeted treatments, highlighting an important distinction: the sophistication of a skincare product depends not only on what it contains, but also on how it is formulated.

When Tradition Finds New Applications

ZAIN draws inspiration from hanbang, Korea’s traditional herbal medicine, translating its botanical heritage into contemporary treatments designed particularly for mature skin. Its formulations incorporate ingredients such as red golden ginseng and Magnolia Sieboldii Shine, with products focused on improving the appearance of firmness and radiance.

Among its offerings is Goldberry Cream, a product that reflects this approach to facial care. Ginseng, deeply rooted in Asian traditions, contains compounds known as ginsenosides, which have been studied for their antioxidant properties. Its use in cosmetics illustrates the meeting point between botanical knowledge and modern research, although specific results depend on each formulation.

A Different Relationship with Time

The relationship with time takes on a different meaning at XOUL, an independent brand that embraces the philosophy of slow-aging: an approach centered on consistent care rather than the promise of stopping the aging process.

Its specialization in lip treatments is particularly noteworthy. Unlike much of the facial skin, the lips lack sebaceous glands, making them especially vulnerable to dryness. Yet they rarely receive the same attention as other areas of the face. XOUL proposes making lip care an integral part of a more comprehensive routine, transforming an everyday concern into a specialized skincare category.

By contrast, COREANA VEGAN finds its identity in simplicity. Its formulations, which the brand describes as vegan-certified, prioritize essential ingredients, exclude animal-derived components, and offer an accessible approach focused on hydration and skin protection.

Its philosophy raises a timely question in an industry accustomed to adding more steps and treatments: does a longer routine necessarily deliver better results? Not always. Understanding individual skin needs and selecting appropriate products remains far more important than the number of formulas on a bathroom shelf.

Beyond the Country of Origin

The arrival of DermikMX in Mexico brings attention to something often overlooked amid constant launches and emerging trends: the diversity of an industry that has found different paths to cosmetic development through research, tradition, and specialization.

From Coreana Cosmetics’ technological approach to XOUL’s independent philosophy, this selection reveals that brands sharing the same country of origin can hold remarkably different perspectives on skincare.

In a market continually promising the next major breakthrough, perhaps the more compelling opportunity lies in looking more closely at what is already in front of us: the ingredients, research, and decisions that transform an idea into a finished formula. DermikMX is not introducing a single vision of Korean beauty to Mexico. It is opening the door to five different ways of discovering it.

S.Pellegrino Young Chef Academy: the future of cuisine begins long before the plate

When it comes to gastronomy, people look for experiences, flavors and, quite often, names worth remembering. And some competitions exist precisely to find them. But when it comes to chefs who are only beginning to define their place in the industry, there is another question worth asking: what kind of cuisine do they want to build? Technique matters, of course. But so do the ideas behind each dish. That was precisely what we saw at the 2026 S.Pellegrino Young Chef Academy Latin America & Caribbean Regional Final, which brought 15 young chefs together in Panama. Brazil’s Ana Flávia Batista secured…
